Abstract:Materials chemistry is a new interdisciplinary science in the confluence of the following fields :chemistry and materials science.This article outlines its recent developments in design and synthesis of new materials, preparation and modification of ultrafine powder,nanophase materials and thin films,and characterization technologies, Especially,it is emphasized that materials for use in high technology tend to be designed and processed at molecular level.Finally,we conclude that materials chemistry will play an important role in development of materials science in the coming century.
